Come aboard the Wild Turkey for our Cairns to Lizard Island heavy tackle game fishing and sportfishing. Wild Turkey is a 34 ft long and purpose-built vessel to cater to 4-6 people. It is a fully equipped game boat fit-out with all the bells and whistles to aid your adventure, searching to capture the elusive 1000lb+ fish in the deep during the Blue Water Season in The Great Barrier Reef. With the latest Garmin sounders, chirp transducers and radar to ensure your fishing experience is second to none, Wild Turkey is an easy choice for your next Sportfishing Marlin charter in Queensland, Australia.

For the duration of your charter, the mothership Iron Lady is used as a home base so you can rest assured of a great night’s sleep in comfort after a big day of Billfishing.

Wild Turkey Tournament Wins

December 2024 Wild Turkey from Australian Sportfishing Charters was the runner-up in the 41st Ribbons Ladies Game Fishing Tournament. 21 boats competed for the prestigious prize. Yvette Maas caught her first Sailfish, while 16-year-old Skyla McShane, in the out-of-town angler category, caught her first Black Marlin and a Dolphin Fish. All fish were caught on the 10-lb line class, tagged and released.

Also in 2024, Wild Turkey came runners-up in the Port Douglas Marlin Challenge with Champion Boat and Champion Angler – Karsten Shcramm.

In 2023, Wild Turkey won the famous Ladies Ribbons Tournament, the Makira Bullfight, the Champion Lady Angler Award, and the Heaviest Other Fish in the Yorkies Mahi Wahi Tournament.

In 2019, Wild Turkey won the Port Douglas Marlin Challenge, which is described as the “Formula 1 of Fishing” or the “Grand Prix of Angling in the world.” It is the only heavy-tackle tournament in Australia.

The season’s biggest Marlin last year was estimated at over 950lbs.
